Esoteric Lovers Chapter 8: Where are you Now?
I rolled over onto my side. It was four in the morning, and I had spent the last three hours tossing and turning. My stomach was in knots, and I couldn’t get myself to sleep.
I sat up in bed, and put my head in my hands. I took a few deep breaths, and tried to calm down a bit. I felt Louis stir next to me, and his eyes fluttered open moments later.
“Babe, are you okay?” Louis asked sitting up next to me.
“Yeah, sorry if I woke you.” I said.
Louis shook his head, and rubbed my back slowly.
“You not feel well?” Louis asked.
I shook my head.
“What hurts?” Louis asked.
“My stomach is a mess.” I stated.
“I bet it was the food, have you eaten Chinese in a while?” Louis asked.
“No, I’ve been living off of Ramen noodles, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for like two years.” I said.
Louis chuckled, and pulled me closer to him.
“Do you need to poop?” Louis asked.
I laughed at his question.
“I don’t think so, I’m just going to go make some tea, maybe it’ll settle me a bit.” I said.
“No, you stay here, I’ll go make it.” Louis replied.
“Thank you.” I said with a smile.
Louis grinned, and kissed my forehead before getting out of bed. He went into the kitchen, and put the water on for some tea, but came and snuggled in bed with me as it boiled. After the tea was done, he brought us each a cup, and we sipped it quietly in bed.
“Feel any better?” Louis asked when we finished our tea.
I shook my head slowly, as a sharp pain broke out in my side. I sucked in a tight gasp, and Louis looked at me concernedly.
“Mac…” Louis whispered.
“I’m fine.” I said.
Louis nodded, and placed his hand over my side, where I had a cramp.
“Come here.” Louis said quietly, as he pulled me closer to him.
I laid close to him, and tried to keep my face even so he wouldn’t know how much pain I was in. Louis held me tightly, and I couldn’t stop squirming around. I was in so much pain, and I didn’t know what to do. It wouldn’t go away, and I could feel tears welling up in my eyes.
“Will you call me an ambulance or something Louis, I can’t breathe, it hurts so bad.” I said slowly.
Louis jolted up from bed, and rushed to the phone, calling for an ambulance.
“Come on, let’s go wait in the lobby. You’re going to be fine.” Louis said.
I tried to stand up, but I was in so much pain, I couldn’t even move.
“Louis, I can’t move.” I whispered.
Louis nodded, and lifted me straight up out of the bed. He carried me down to the lobby, and seated me in his lap on the couch. A few minutes later, I could hear the sirens wailing outside of the hotel, and soon enough a stretcher was being rolled in.
They laid me on it, and Louis rode in the ambulance with me on the way to the hospital.
When we got there, they took me into examination right away, and Louis had to wait in the waiting room.
The found out it was my appendix, and they had to remove it right away, so I went into surgery right then and there.
When I came out of surgery, I was put in a room where I had to spend the night alone. Visiting hours were over, so Louis had to wait in the waiting room. I told him he could leave, and that I would be fine, but he insisted on staying at the hospital all night.
I was so tired at the hospital, that I just fell asleep, and I don’t remember anything until the next morning.
When I woke up, Louis was in my room, holding my hand, and peacefully sleeping in the chair beside my bed.
I smiled at him, and tried to sit up, but yelped in pain, forgetting that I had surgery the night before.
Louis shot up, and looked at me.
“Are you okay? Do you need a doctor?” Louis asked quickly.
“No, I just didn’t remember that last night happened.” I said.
Louis smiled, and pulled me into a hug.
“You scared me last night.” Louis said.
“I scared me last night. But thank you for taking care of me.” I said.
“You’re very welcome.” Louis smiled.
“Hand me the thing of pills yeah?” I asked Louis pointing to the bottle on by bedside table.
“You can’t just shoot up Mac, you need to talk to the doctor first.” Louis laughed.
“I am a doctor, now give me the bottle.” I replied.
“You aren’t a doctor sweetie, but I’ll go get one.” Louis replied.
I sighed, and he laughed as he walked out of the room to fetch a doctor.
When he came back with the doctor, they explained my prescription, and what I would and wouldn’t be able to do. Walking was under the “Do not do” category, so they gave me crutches, which were quite frankly the most annoying thing I have ever encountered.
After I talked to the doctor, they signed me off, and let me out of the hospital.
“These hurt my arm pits.” I complained to Louis, when we got back to the hotel.
“I’ll get you the little snuggies for the top.” Louis smiled.
I grinned, and Louis walked me back to my room. When we got up to our floor, all the boys, and security were standing in the hall.
“Where have you been? What have you been doing? And why in the world is Macintosh on crutches and wearing a hospital bracelet?” Paul asked.
“Hospital, getting surgery, because I am not allowed to walk, and I believe the answer to the hospital bracelet question, is in the question.” I said answering every question.
“Why did you get surgery?” Paul asked.
“My appendix burst last night.” I said.
“And they let you out so soon?” Niall asked.
“Good behavior.” I replied.
Niall chuckled, and looked to Liam for conformation on the fact that I was joking.
“Louis, why were you with her?” Paul asked, growing suspicious.
“Because I called him, and asked him to come over because I was in a lot of pain.” I replied.
“Why did you call him?” Paul asked.
“I’m the closest with him.” I said.
“What about Lou?” Paul asked.
“I didn’t want to wake up Lux.” I replied.
Paul nodded, knowing it was a valid answer.
“Now, can I go get some sleep?” I asked.
Everyone nodded, and I headed into my room. When I got in, I pressed my ear to the door, and listened to what they all had to say about me.
“Next time you go gallivanting about at four in the morning, tell someone.” Paul said.
“I know, it was just she was really hurting, and we were in a bit of a rush.” Louis said.
There was silence, and I looked out the peephole to see that Paul was now gone. All the boys voices lowered as they began to speak again.
“She didn’t call you did she?” Niall asked.
“No, I was with her.” Louis said.
“No shit.” Niall said.
Louis laughed, and then it went silent again.
I looked through the peephole, to see all the boys had cleared out, and Louis was left with just Harry.
“When I told you I had feelings for her, why didn’t you tell me you two were already together?” Harry asked.
“Because we were keeping it a secret from everyone.” Louis said.
“I thought her and I had something, you could have told me.” Harry replied.
“I’m really sorry mate, I didn’t know what to do.” Louis said.
“I hate being like this with you Harry, we’re supposed to be mates, and mess around and stuff. I don’t like us being all torn apart over a girl. She’s part of both of our lives, and it isn’t fair to her.” Louis said.
“Yeah I guess. If you guys are happy, then that’s all that matters.” Harry said.
“Thank you.” Louis replied.
“I bet she has some hot friends for you.” Louis joked.
“Let’s hope.” Harry replied.
They both laughed, and man hugged, and then went their separate ways to their rooms. I smiled to myself, glad that I was no longer coming between them.
I went and laid down on the couch, and opened up my twitter. I had over ten thousand new interactions, and half of them were people tweeting me the picture of Louis holding me in his lap last night when we were waiting for the ambulance in the lobby of the hotel.
I sucked in a deep breath, and watched as the rumors formed, and everything fell apart.
